Welcome to the BTW Research and Archives Center!

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Booker T. Washington High School library media program is to ensure that students and faculty members are effective users of ideas and information.  Our mission is accomplished in the following three ways:

in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas

Program Goals:

Goal: To collaborate with teachers in order to meet instructional goals and expectations of the district                                                                                  

Goal: Provide instruction in information access and literacy skills to the 21st century learner in order to extend their learning experiences beyond the classroom

Goal: To preserve, protect, and interpret the legacy of BT Washington HS for the benefit, education, and inspiration of present and future generations, BT Washington High School community at large in Atlanta, GA. Furthermore the goal is to interpret its role in providing a public high school education for scores of African Americans during the Jim Crow era and for providing housing provisions for African American military personnel during WWII.

• by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in many formats

• by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest 

• by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students
